Chris M. Ward

Founder · Chief Executive Officer

Chris M. Ward founded Fire Mountain Labs to be an honest broker for AI adopters navigating a hype-driven landscape, bridging government, industry, and academia. He is a U.S. Navy veteran and a PECB-certified ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor, with over a decade in AI and AI security and 26 coauthored publications.

His career runs through the federal civil service and industry: SPAWAR Systems Center Pacific (now NIWC Pacific), The MITRE Corporation, where he was a Principal AI Researcher in Assured AI Systems, and several AI startups. In those roles he led AI security research and red teaming across AI risk assessment, penetration testing, secure AI governance, and adversarial threat modeling.

He champions pragmatic, secure, and trustworthy AI that serves the public good and strengthens national resilience.
